WASHING YOUR KNITWEAR

The type of yarn used to make your garment will be disclosed when you receive your package!

Please take care of your special piece by following the instructions below.

  1. Clean the garment by soaking it in lukewarm water for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Add a gentle detergent, wool wash, or hand soap to the water and massage it into the garment.
  3. Rinse with cold water until the water runs clear and all soap suds are gone.
  4. Gently squeeze out the excess water, taking care not to forcefully wring out the delicate piece.
  5. Re-shape the garment to its original dimensions and lay it flat on a towel.
  6. Change the towel and flip the garment every few hours until it is completely dry.

For acrylic, acrylic blends, or other synthetic yarn: follow steps 1-4. Then, you may choose to air dry your garment or machine dry it on the lowest heat setting.

For cotton, mohair, or other natural yarn: Follow all steps above.

ALL YARN TYPES: Do not use hot water. Do not bleach. Do not iron. Do not cut loose ends.

STORING YOUR KNITWEAR

  • Bulky knitwear can lose its shape when hung. Fold your pieces and store them in a cool dry place, such as on a shelf or in a closet.
  • For acrylic/synthetic yarn: moisture is not too much of a problem, but it is still best to wait until your pieces are completely dry before storing.
  • For natural fibers: be wary of moisture in your storage area. Consider investing in mothballs if your storage area is prone to insects.

EXTRA TIPS

Loose end poking out?

Do NOT cut any loose ends or the piece might unravel! Simply tie a knot or two and tuck it back inside.

Too tight-fitting?

Hand wash as normal. Gently stretch out the piece to your desired measurements and pin it flat as it air dries on a towel.

Too baggy?

Hand wash in warmer water - not hot! Machine dry on medium heat instead of low heat (acrylic/acrylic blend/synthetic yarn only) or air dry as normal (cotton/mohair/natural yarn). The higher temperature will help the stitches shrink.
